Tanri Abeng meninggal dunia pada usia 82 tahun.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Sejumlah tokoh nasional pun menyampaikan belasungkawa atas kepergian Tanri Abeng. Menteri BUMN saat ini, Erick Thohir menyebutnya sebagai tokoh yang &#8220;berjasa besar untuk negeri ini.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tanri Abeng dikenal pernah menjabat di berbagai posisi penting, baik di perusahaan swasta atau pemerintah. Di sektor swasta, Tanri Abeng dikenal usai mereformasi Grup Bakrie pada 1990-an.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Profil Tanri Abeng<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tanri Abeng lahir di Kepulauan Selayar, Sulawesi Selatan pada 7 Maret 1942. Tanri Abeng dilahirkan dalam keluarga sederhana.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Saat berusia 10 tahun, Tanri Abeng pindah ke Makassar untuk tinggal dengan kerabat usai kedua orang tuanya meninggal, mengenyam pendidikan dasar dan menengah di kota tersebut.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Setelah lulus sekolah, Tanri Abeng mendapat beasiswa American Field Service (AFS), lalu kembali ke Indonesia dan berkuliah di Universitas Hasanuddin.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Karier Tanri Abeng menanjak pada 1960-an dan menjadi Direktur PT Union-Carbide Indonesia. Pada 1979, Tanri Abeng dipercaya menjadi presiden direktur PT Perusahaan Bir Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tanri Abeng kemudian pindah ke Grup Bakrie pada 1991. Tanri Abeng dinilai berprestasi di Grup Bakrie, berhasil menaikkan penjualan tahunan dari sekitar 50 juta dolar AS menjadi 700 juta dolar AS per 1996.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Pada tahun yang sama dengan kepindahannya ke Grup Bakrie, Tanri Abeng terjun ke politik dan bergabung dengan Partai Golkar. Tanri Abeng pun sempat menjadi anggota MPR lalu menjabat menteri BUMN pada 1998-1999.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Pada 2011, Tanri Abeng mendirikan Universitas Tanri Abeng di Jakarta Selatan. Menurutnya, pembangunan kampus ini dibiayai dengan hasil penjualan Hotel Aryaduta, hotel yang dimiliki Tanri hasil bermitra dengan bos Lippo Group, James Riady.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tanri mengaku mendirikan universitas sebagai tanda syukur dan terima kasih. Sepengakuan Tanri, hidup susah pada masa lalu membuatnya menghargai pendidikan.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cSemuanya dimulai dari latar saya.
